Kanye West took the time out to thank 50 Cent for the friendly competition going on between the two, both of whom release albums on Sept. 11th.
"I think we push each other. I feel I wouldn't have some of the tracks on my album if it wasn't for 50, and he wouldn't have some of the things he had if he wasn't up against me," West told MTV backstage at the V Festival in Stafford, England.
The two rap superstars have been taking jabs at each other since it was revealed that 50's Curtis and West's Graduation would be dropping on the same day. And in a world where both men are known as much for their egos as they are for their musical contributions, it's no surprise to anyone that neither man intends to back down. 50 set the bar a bit higher, announcing he would retire from the game if Kanyeezy's first week sales were to surpass his own.
During an appearance on British talk show "The Friday Night Project," Kanye responded to 50's claim, saying, "Please, 50, don't retire once my album sells and beats your album."
In other Kanye news, the rapper-producer joined Rihanna onstage Monday night for a secret performance at Britain's Westminster Central Hall. Kanye treated fans to such songs as "Gold Digger," his current single, "Stronger," and "Big Brother," a new song that addresses a minor rift between 'Ye and his "brother," Jay-Z.
"I told Jay I did a song with Coldplay/Next thing I know he got a song with Coldplay/In the back of my mind, I'm like, 'Oh, wait/Translate Espanol, no way, José," he raps on the song. "I should have talked to you like a man, I should have told you first/But I went and told somebody else and that's what made sh-- worse."
