Kanye West To Host Benefit Concert

Kanye West will host an inaugural benefit concert for his newly founded non-profit, the Kanye West Foundation. The event is set to take place Aug. 24 at the House of Blues in West's Chicago hometown.

In conjunction with the benefit concert, West will also host a VIP reception and a silent auction that will feature memorabilia from the controversial artist-producer. Fans in attendance will also get a chance to check out tracks from 'Ye's upcoming album, Graduation, and see a sneak peek of his upcoming "Glow in the Dark" tour, which kicks off this fall.

Proceeds for each event will benefit the Kanye West Foundation, which works to encourage today's youth to stay in school. One of Foundation's first initiatives is the Loop Dreams Teacher Training Institute, which is slated to open in Chicago in Spring 2008. The Institute will provide training to Chicago Public School teachers who are interested in using hip-hop music in their curriculum in an effort to promote literacy and motivate youth to stay in school.

"Kanye is committed to excellence through education and established 'Loop Dreams' as the first and signature initiative of his foundation," Kanye's mother, Dr. Donda West said
